UCSD is  10 miles  north of the center of San Diego on Interstate 5, just south
of where 5 merges  with 805. 

  • From I-5 take the Genesee exit, heading west.
  • After 1 mile, go left at light onto North Torrey Pines (towards La Jolla).
  • At 1st light turn left on Northpoint Drive (Becomes Hopkins Drive after the right turn).
  • Go to Visitor Information booth and buy parking permit. (Symbol ‘?’ on map).
  • At the next stop sign (~1/2 mi) turn left on Voigt Drive.
  • At next stop sign turn left into parking lot P502
  • Park in green space.

HOPKINS PARKING GARAGE: Parking during peak hours (10-2 while classes are in session) 
  • From the Visitors Center, continue on Northpoint.
  • Northpoint takes a hard right and becomes Hopkins Drive.
  • At the corner of Hopkins and Voigt, turn right into parking garage. 
  • Enter the Hopkins Parking structure at the top of the hill (Level 6).
  • Visitor Parking is on the top (Level 7). 
    White spaces marked “V” are good with hourly permits only.
    Full-day permits must park in Green or Yellow spaces.
    Full-day permits are not valid in White or Red spaces.
  • Purchase the appropriate parking permit at the machine on that level. 
    $1.00 per hour, accepts credit card or exact change only. 
    Full-day permit is $6.00, $3.00 after 5:00 p.m.
  • The CalIT2 building (Atkinson Hall) is down the hill on Voigt about 1/4 mile.

 ONCE ON FOOT:

  • MPLab is on the 6th floor of the CalIT2 Building (Atkinson Hall), shown in blue.
  • From the elevators, turn right, then right again.
