MPLAB Standards for Labeling Ground Truth for 2D Face Trackers: Version 1.0 June 2003.
This documents describes standards for marking ground truth of the
position of a human head on the image plane.
We do so by marking the smallest rectangle that cover the head region, excluding hair.
The main axis of the rectangle are aligned to the vertical and horizontal axis of the image.
We also mark the center of the two eyes.
Details
- Facial hair does not count as occlusion. It is considered part of the texture of the face.
- On profiles the rectangle excludes the nose.
- On frontal views, the rectangle excludes the ears.
Features
- Smallest rectangular region that covers entire head
- Center of left eye
- Center of right eye
Occlusion Codes
- (1) No occlusion.
- (2) Self occlusion: More than 20% of rectangular region covering the head is
occluded by hair (excluding facial hair). This may occur due to
rotation in depth.
- (3) Oclussion by non-head objects (e.g., arm, hand, ...).
- (4) Center of left eye is occluded
- (5) Center of right eye is occluded
- Out of the image plane labeled implicitly by negative coordinates
Below are some pictures with examples of the different codes.
